Observations on Hydrobiological Conditions of River Ganga at Daraganj, Allahabad

Singh PR Verma AK

Abstract

With the help of hydrobiological kits and standard chemical methods, various hydrobiological parameters such as air temperature, water temperature, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and biological oxygen demand were analyzed at Daraganj. The experiment was carried during all the 12 months of year 2014.The pH values were found ranging from 7.9 to 8.2, DO from 6.1 to 9.5 ppm. High values of BOD were observed during July, August and September months and high values of conductivity during April, May and June. High value of conductivity and BOD are indications of hazardous conditions for the riverine ecosystem.
