The family Sarcophagidae includes several necrophagous species which are medically and veterinary important. Many studies have been carried out on the cytogenetics and biochemical genetics of these flies, however, very little work has been carried out using RAPD based methods for their genetic characterization. Therefore, Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA –Polymerase Chain Reaction (RAPD-PCR) method was used among three sarcophagids viz., Sarcophaga ruficornis (Fab.), S. argyrostoma (R.-D.) and S. dux (Walker) for characterization purpose. The genetic relationship obtained by RAPD-PCR molecular marker reveals close relationship among species.
