Study on Species diversity and distribution of rats in Birganj National Park, Dinajpur, Bangladesh

Abstract

An investigation accomplished on species diversity and distribution of rats in Birganj National park from June’ 2016 to December’ 2016. During this study ten cage traps were deployed in four randomly selected areas i.e household condition, outside community household, forest and edges of wetland. The present study reports 7 species of rats under Muridae family. Rattus rattus was abundant (43.92%) and found throughout the study area. Majority of rats highly distributed in household condition (53.27%) followed by outside community household, forest and margin of pet land.
