Preliminary phytochemical screening of some medicinal plants from Bhandardhara, Maharashtra

Abstract

This paper deals with phytochemical studies of common medicinal plants from Bhandardhra area Maharashtra. The present study was assigned to screen 30 selected medicinal plants for phytochemicals during June 2016. Phytochemical such as alkaloids, terpenoids, saponins, steroids, flavonoids, quinone, glycosides, phlobatannin and tannins were screened. The result of the phytochemical analysis showed that the thirteen plants were rich in alkaloids and saponins, sixteen rich in flavonoids and tannin, thirty rich in terpenoids and quinine, eight rich in glycosides, and twenty nine rich in steroids. The phytochemicals activities observed in the screened species are indicatives of these plants could be a possible source to obtain new and effective herbal drug to real treatments, hence justified the ethic use of species against various infectious diseases.
